Boy stolen in Benue and sold for N500k, rescued in Aba .

3 years old Bemdoo Ajekwe, who was kidnapped on 10/10/18 at North Bank area of Makurdi, Benue State, has been rescued and reunited with his parents.

His rescue followed a full scale investigation ordered by the Benue State Commissioner of Police, CP. Ene Okon, which led to the arrest of one Joy Onyeabor, 32,and Lucy Doosur, 29.

The suspects confessed that the said child was, on that fateful day, in company of his brother who is about 7 years old.

They lured the older child with the sum of N50 to help them buy bread across the road, leaving the younger child in their care before they whisked him to Aba  Abia State. .
.
They stated that they sold him to one Unwa Chibueze and Elizabeth for N500,000.

Further investigation led to the arrest of other members of the syndicate namely; Sunday Udoh, 26, and Friday  Orinya, 33, all of North Bank, Makurdi, who actively participated in the crime.

Police detectives extended investigation to Aba and recovered the child on 23/10/2018. He has since been reunited with his family, while investigation continues with a view to arresting other fleeing members of the syndicate.

The International Federation of Women Lawyers, (FIDA), Benue State chapter, has effected the arrest of a 35-year-old man, Haruna Shauibu, who was allegedly caught raping a 5-year-old orphan identified as Rukaya.
